RMLL Junior B Tier I

      Junior  “B” Tier I is a very competitive level of Junior box lacrosse in Alberta. There are 12 Junior “B”  Tier I teams; 10 in Alberta (three in Calgary, one in Airdrie/Cochrane, one is Okotoks, one in Red Deer, 3 in the Edmonton, one in Fort Saskatchewan) and there are one team each located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Winnipeg Manitoba. The Junior “B” Tier I league is a stepping stone for players pursuing a position on the Junior “A” teams. For the most part, players are between the ages of 17 and 21 and develop their skills at the Junior “B” Tier I level before potentially earning a position on a Junior “A” team.

Other characteristics are:
– Approximately 20 games;
– 23-25 players per team;
– Unbalanced schedule against out-of-town teams;
– Overnight travel;
– Participate in Provincial playoffs, and
– Top teams apply to contend for “The Founder’s Cup”, the trophy awarded annually to the winner of the Canadian Junior “B” championship.

       The Junior “B” Tier I league also has regional player drafts. Annually the Alberta teams in this division can draft up to 15 midgets.  The Graduating Midget players either fall into the draft for the particular region they geographically fall into. As in Junior “A”, being drafted doesn’t guarantee a player a spot on the Junior “B” Tier I team that holds his playing rights.
